Director, Customer Development, LCL
Overview:
As the primary contact for Loblaw Companies Limited (LCL), this newly created role of Director, Customer Development, will plan, develop and coordinate sales activities to expand the company's sales with LCL across Canada.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include:
Account Management:
- Proactively develop and deliver on key initiatives to achieve sales and profit targets for LCL.
- Lead new product development/store concept initiatives to deliver to customer expectations.
- Deliver all aspects ofcustomer's sales and marketing strategies to achieve expected level of case sales and profit margins.
Business Development:
- Development of an Annual Business Process and Strategy with LCL.
- Strategically build relationships at senior levels and cross functionally within LCL.
- Prepare and deliver effective and professional sales reviews, reports and presentations.
Manage/Lead ACE Internal Resources:
- Provide to ACE senior management business reviews and business updates and develop ACE strategic direction for LCL.
- Develop a strong understanding of ACE marketing assets and partner/leverage with marketing team to develop LCL specific programs, merchandising and marketing plans.
- Develop budgets, promotional planning and sales forecasts.
- Gather bottom up information from front line ACE staff, synthesize and develop action plans; lead, coordinate and set direction for ACE staff in all functions who are working on aspects of LCL business.
- HR management including reviews, objective setting, and performance management for the ACE LCL team.
- Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all ACE Bakery products, programs, and operational capabilities and a complete awareness and understanding of the competition with regards to markets, products and pricing.
Grow the Weston Relationship:
- Ability to work cross functionally with other Weston Foods teams to enhance current relationships and develop new relationships to ensure first class execution on ACE programs.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be a hands-on business leader with strong business acumen who can deliver expected results through people. He/she will be a self-starter, a highly effective communicator and operate with an open and transparent management style.
Other qualifications include:
- An undergraduate business/commerce degree or relevant work experience. An MBA would be a definite asset.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible sales account management experience working with the major food retailers in Canada. LCL experience in the bakery category would be ideal.
- Outstanding customer service, interpersonal and communication skills to work with the customer and internal ACE team.
- Ability to take the initiative; work independently and strong planning, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Strong capability to handle customer organizational complexity and perseverance to deliver results; patient but able to judge when and how to escalate issues.
- Exceptional analytical ability and computer skills to analyze data and identify trends and opportunities.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian retail market.
- Bilingual in French/English is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- Ability to work occasional weekends and overnight travel required. 10-20% travel across Canada.
